Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
HeatShield Chimney Sweep in Las Vegas: What to Know First
HeatShield chimney sweep in Las Vegas typically runs $189 to $389, and we complete most jobs in a single visit of about 90 minutes. We’re an independent HeatShield service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized shop, which means we can be straight with you about what your liner actually needs without pushing brand-upsell. If you own a HeatShield relined chimney in Las Vegas and it’s been more than a year since your last sweep, call (725) 220-6109 for a free estimate.
This page is for homeowners in Summerlin, Henderson, Aliante, Green Valley, and across the valley who have a HeatShield liner or repair already in place and want it cleaned without voiding their warranty or damaging the coating. Nathan Corliss and our crew have worked on hundreds of HeatShield-relined flues across Las Vegas, and we treat every job as its own inspection.
How HeatShield Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
- HeatShield Cerfractory flue sealant thinning at the smoke shelf. In Las Vegas, where the air stays dry and heat cycles swing from overnight lows to full sun, the Cerfractory material can develop hairline shrinkage cracks near the smoke shelf. We see this on HeatShield’s standard reline system in homes built in the 1980s and 1990s. During a sweep we look for a sandy residue that tells us the coating is shedding. Fix: we document it with photos, then discuss recoating only if the underlying flue tiles are still sound.
- Glazed creosote bonding to HeatShield’s flat surfaces. HeatShield creates a smoother flue wall than raw clay tile, but that smoothness cuts both ways. Stage 2 glazed creosote, the shiny tar-like layer from burning unseasoned mesquite or pine, can still fuse to it in Las Vegas fireplaces used heavily December through February. Standard wire brushing won’t touch it. We use chemical creosote treatment followed by a slower rotary sweep to break the glaze without gouging the HeatShield surface.
- Joint seal deterioration where HeatShield meets the flue tile above the damper. The transition point where the HeatShield coating ends at the top of the clay tile above the damper is a known weak point. Heat expansion and contraction in Las Vegas attics, which regularly hit 140°F in summer, causes flexing there. We check this seam on every HeatShield sweep because a small gap there lets flue gases slip into the chase cavity.
- HeatShield EcoLiner warping after a chimney fire. If your HeatShield chimney ever took a chimney fire before we arrive, the EcoLiner series, a cast-in-place ceramic liner, can develop subtle bulges you won’t see from the firebox. That’s a real structural concern. We inspect with a camera on every Level 2 inspection and recommend a Level 2 after any chimney fire, period. If we find warping, the fix is liner replacement, not patching.
- Top plate and rain cap corrosion accelerating HeatShield wear. Las Vegas sees almost no rain, but the UV and windblown sand eat galvanized caps faster than people expect. A corroded cap lets the occasional monsoon downpour dump straight down the flue, and water on a HeatShield surface accelerates spalling. We replace caps with stainless options from Olympia Chimney and check the flue crown seal at the same time.

Our HeatShield Chimney Sweep Process
Every HeatShield job starts the same way: say the price, explain what we’re doing, and put the promise in writing. Here’s what that looks like from the first call to the final wipe-down:
- 1
Call and schedule. A live person answers at (725) 220-6109, day or night. We book a real arrival window, not a four-hour shrug.
- 2
Written price before we touch anything. We arrive, look at your setup, confirm the scope, and hand you a written price. That number doesn’t move unless you add work.
- 3
Pre-sweep camera check. Before we run a brush, we send a camera up the flue to confirm the HeatShield surface is intact and measure creosote depth. If we find a crack or spalled section, you’ll see it on the screen with us.
- 4
The sweep. We use brushes and vacuum equipment sized to your flue dimensions. For HeatShield liners, we default to gentler poly brushes rather than aggressive steel, which extends coating life.
- 5
Post-sweep visual and camera verification. We show you the after-image. We don’t declare it clean, we prove it clean.
- 6
Written guarantee and cleanup. Drop cloths come up, ash goes with us, and your guarantee arrives in writing before we leave the driveway. That’s the Kingswell Way.

AfterWhat HeatShield Chimney Sweep Costs in Las Vegas
Most HeatShield chimney sweeps in Las Vegas run between $189 and $389. A basic annual sweep with creosote removal on a single flue, no repairs needed, sits at the lower end. The price climbs when we need chemical glazed-creosote treatment, a camera inspection add-on, or if the flue needs rodent or bird debris removal first. Here’s how typical jobs break down:
- Standard sweep, single flue: $189 to $249
- Sweep plus Level 1 inspection: $249 to $309
- Sweep plus full camera inspection (Level 2): $329 to $389
- Glazed creosote chemical treatment: add $75 to $120
- Debris or animal removal: add $90 to $180
What moves the price most is what the camera finds before the brush goes up. A HeatShield liner in good shape sweeps fast. One that’s been neglected needs more care and more time. Call (725) 220-6109 and we’ll give you a written price on the spot.
Why Las Vegas Homeowners Call Ashby Chimney Las Vegas for HeatShield Work
We’ve been in business since 2002, and we’ve spent more than a decade of that cleaning and inspecting chimneys across the Las Vegas valley, including plenty of older wood-burning fireplaces in Summerlin. Each Ashby location is independently owned and operated under the Kingswell Guarantee. That means when we say a repair is covered, it’s covered in writing. If a covered repair fails during the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and we put it on every invoice.
Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed. They know HeatShield liners, but they also work with DuraFlex and Gelco systems, so if a replacement is ever the honest call, we can talk through your options without vendor loyalty getting in the way. The point of a sweep isn’t to sell you a new liner. It’s to prove the one you have is either sound or on its way out, with pictures you can see for yourself.
FAQs
No. HeatShield’s warranty language expects regular maintenance, and a professional sweep using appropriate brushes is part of normal care. What voids warranties is neglect or damage from improper cleaning. We use poly brushes and camera verification specifically so the cleaning process itself never becomes the reason a claim gets denied.
We typically schedule HeatShield sweeps within 3 to 7 days, with faster availability between March and September when Las Vegas fireplaces go quiet. Fall fills up first, so booking before October is the smart play. Call (725) 220-6109 and we’ll find a window that works.
Yes, and we’ll show you the proof. During a Level 2 camera inspection, we look for spalling, bulging, joint separation, and coating wear. If the liner is sound, we’ll tell you plainly and sweep it. If it’s failing, you’ll see the images and we’ll explain your options, including whether a spot repair with HeatShield products is still viable. You never have to take our word on faith.
Once a year if you burn wood more than a couple times a week during winter. If you only use the fireplace occasionally, every other year is usually enough, but an annual visual check costs less than a new liner and catches coating wear early. Las Vegas heat cycling is hard on flue materials, so we’d rather look too often than too late.
Creosote builds up in layers. Stage 1 sweeps off easily. Stage 2 glazes and needs chemical treatment. Stage 3 is a thick, tarry layer that is a legitimate chimney fire risk. On a HeatShield liner, any chimney fire can cause permanent warping that a sweep can’t undo. The fix at that point is liner replacement, not cleaning. A $189 sweep is cheaper than a $2,500 reline. Call (725) 220-6109 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
