Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Copperfield Chimney Sweep in Las Vegas: What to Know First
A Copperfield chimney sweep in Las Vegas typically costs between $189 and $329 for a standard cleaning and Level 1 inspection, and most jobs are completed the same week we hear from you. We’re an independent Copperfield service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized shop, which means we give you straight answers about whether a repair can wait or needs doing now. If you own a Copperfield fireplace, stove, or insert and you’re wondering what a sweep actually covers, what it costs, and whether your flue is safe for another burning season, this page is for you. Call (725) 220-6109 and a live person answers, day or night.
How Copperfield Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Copperfield builds solid, mid-market fireplaces and stoves, but after cleaning hundreds of them across the Las Vegas valley, we know where they wear and what to look for. Here are the five failure patterns we see most often on Copperfield units in this climate.
- Creosote glazing in Copperfield’s older wood-burning stoves. Copperfield’s pre-2010 wood stoves, especially the freestanding models we still find in older Summerlin and Green Valley homes, tend to run cooler at the flue collar than newer EPA-certified units. That means creosote builds up as a hard, shiny glaze instead of flaky soot. A standard brush sweep won’t remove glazed creosote. We use a rotary whip with steel lines, and on stubborn deposits we apply a creosote conditioner first, let it work overnight, then come back and finish. It’s not a cheap shortcut; it’s the only way to actually remove it.
- Door gasket compression on Copperfield inserts. The rope gasket around the door of a Copperfield insert compresses over time, especially in Las Vegas where the dry air hardens the fiberglass faster than humid climates. When that gasket flattens, air leaks into the firebox and the burn gets sloppy, which means more soot in the chimney. During a sweep we check the gasket by feel and with a dollar-bill test: closing the door on a bill should give resistance when you pull. If it slides out easy, we replace the gasket with OEM-spec material, not whatever bulk rope was in the van. That’s a $25 – $40 fix that prevents a $400 cleaning problem down the road.
- Baffle plate warping in Copperfield’s modern EPA stoves. The baffle sits at the top of the firebox and directs heat back down into the burning wood. On Copperfield’s newer EPA-compliant stoves, that baffle is a fiberboard panel, and after three to five seasons of hard use it sags in the middle. A sagging baffle changes the draft and causes incomplete combustion, which loads the flue with soot twice as fast as normal. We inspect the baffle during every Copperfield sweep and tell you straight if it’s serviceable or if you’re one fire away from needing a replacement. We carry common Copperfield baffle sizes and can usually replace one same-visit.
- Blower motor dust accumulation on Copperfield fireplace inserts. Copperfield inserts with circulation blowers pull room air across the firebox and push it back out. In Las Vegas, the amount of fine dust in the air means those blower housings cake up fast. A clogged blower runs hot, gets loud, and eventually burns out. Most homeowners never think about the blower during chimney maintenance. We vacuum and clean the blower housing as part of any Copperfield insert sweep, and we’ll tell you if the bearings sound rough before the motor dies mid-January.
- Damper clamp corrosion on Copperfield factory-built fireplaces. The spring-loaded damper clamp on Copperfield’s zero-clearance fireplaces corrodes in dry climates because there’s no humidity to keep the spring lubed naturally. When the clamp sticks, the damper either won’t open (smoke rolls back into the room) or won’t close (conditioned air escapes up the flue all summer). During our sweep we work the damper open and closed, clean the clamp, and apply a high-temp lubricant. If the spring is shot, we replace the clamp assembly. It’s a small part, but it makes the difference between a fireplace you use and one you avoid.

Our Copperfield Chimney Sweep Process
Every Copperfield job follows the same steps, whether it’s a freestanding stove in Centennial Hills or a gas insert in a Henderson condo. Here’s what happens from the first call to the final invoice.
- 1
You call, a person answers. No voicemail loop, no “leave a message and we’ll get back to you within 48 hours.” We take your details, ask what Copperfield unit you have, and give you a real arrival window, not a four-hour spread.
- 2
We show up and look before we touch. Nathan Corliss built this company on a simple rule: say the price first, explain what you’re doing, and put the promise in writing. We inspect the fireplace, the flue, and the exterior termination point before we quote a dollar figure. That written price is the price. No add-ons at the end.
- 3
We protect the work area. Drop cloths go down, the vacuum comes out, and we seal the fireplace opening with a shroud before cleaning begins. Ash carries the Ashby name, and we leave your floor cleaner than we found it.
- 4
We sweep and inspect the full flue. We run the appropriate brush or whip based on what your Copperfield unit actually needs, then run a camera up the flue for a real look at the liner. You see the photos. You see any cracks, gaps, or glazed creosote yourself.
- 5
We test and report. Damper operation, gasket seal, blower function, draft quality. We explain what we found in plain English, and if something needs repair, we tell you whether it can wait until next season or needs attention before you burn again.
- 6
You get the guarantee in writing. Every Copperfield sweep comes with our written Kingswell Guarantee. If a covered repair fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right.
What Copperfield Chimney Sweep Costs in Las Vegas
Straight numbers, no games. Here’s what our Copperfield sweeps run in Las Vegas:
- Standard Copperfield sweep with Level 1 inspection: $189 – $279 for a single flue, no complications.
- Copperfield insert with blower cleaning: $229 – $329. The extra time cleaning the blower housing and checking the gasket is what most other companies skip.
- Heavy creosote removal (glazed deposits, rotary whip work): $289 – $389. This is the job where the brush alone wasn’t going to cut it.
- Copperfield repair add-ons, same-visit when possible: door gasket replacement $45 – $90, damper clamp replacement $35 – $75, baffle replacement $85 – $220 depending on model.
What moves the price: how long it’s been since the last sweep, whether the flue is accessible from the roof or needs a ladder-off setup, and whether glazed creosote requires the rotary whip and conditioner treatment. You’ll always know the price before we start. Call (725) 220-6109 for an exact quote; estimates are free.

AfterWhy Las Vegas Homeowners Call Ashby Chimney Las Vegas for Copperfield Work
We’ve been cleaning and inspecting chimneys in Las Vegas since 2002, and Copperfield units are a staple of what we see. Homeowners here have dealt with no-shows, price-switching, and repairs that failed six weeks later. That’s exactly the experience we built Ashby to replace. Every job gets a written price before work starts and a written guarantee when it’s finished. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, so you know who’s walking in. And when we replace parts on a Copperfield unit, we use materials from chimney-trade brands like DuraFlex, HeatShield, and Gelco, not whatever happens to be on the truck. If we can’t get the right part same-day, we tell you when we can, and we don’t leave you without a plan.
FAQs
Every 40 to 50 burns for a wood-burning Copperfield stove or fireplace, which translates to once a year for most Las Vegas homeowners who burn regularly from November through February. If you have a gas Copperfield insert or fireplace, a sweep and inspection every two years is typically enough, but an annual Level 1 inspection is cheap insurance. The drier Las Vegas air makes creosote deposits harder and more stubborn than in humid climates, so skipping a season can turn a standard sweep into a heavy-glaze job. Call (725) 220-6109 and we’ll tell you honestly whether you’re due.
We use OEM Copperfield parts whenever they’re available and cost-effective, but for certain wear items, quality aftermarket parts from brands like DuraFlex and HeatShield are functionally equal and often more durable. The decision is always explained before we order anything, and the invoice shows exactly what went in. You’ll never pay for a Copperfield-branded part and receive a generic substitute without knowing.
If you burn wood, yes. The creosote that builds inside a Copperfield flue is invisible from the living room, and by the time you notice draft problems or a smoky smell, the buildup is already significant. Gas units don’t produce creosote, but they still need periodic inspection for cracked bricks, failing gaskets, and blower dust buildup. If our camera inspection shows a clean flue, we’ll tell you that too and you can wait another season. We’re not here to manufacture work.
Most of the time, yes. We sweep through the insert’s flue outlet and clean the firebox, blower housing, and door gasket in place. If the flue is obstructed or the damper assembly needs replacement, we may need to pull the insert out slightly, which adds time and cost. You’ll know before we do it, and the price is set before we touch a single bolt.
For most Copperfield sweeps, we’re at your door within three to five business days of your call, and we hold real arrival windows, not all-day spreads. If you’re preparing a home for sale and need a Level 2 inspection for escrow, tell us when you call and we’ll prioritize your date. Call (725) 220-6109 and we’ll give you a specific day and time before you hang up.
