Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Heavy Creosote Removal in a Summerlin Wood-Burning Fireplace

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Before: Stage 2 creosote glazing on the flue walls, a fire hazard waiting for the right conditions.
BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
After: Soot and glazed creosote removed, flue walls clear and ready for inspection.

The homeowner called because the fireplace smelled like a campfire every time the air conditioning kicked on. We found Stage 2 creosote, shiny and tar-like, built up from years of burning unseasoned pine. After a full mechanical sweep with rotary rods and a follow-up hand brush on the smoke shelf, the flue came back clean. The smell was gone within a day, and the damper finally seated without scraping.

Animal Nest Extraction and Firebox Restoration in Henderson

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Before: A pigeon had built a nest on the smoke shelf, blocking roughly 40% of the flue opening.

After: Nest material removed, flue swept, and the firebox cleaned of debris and droppings.

This one announced itself with a scratching sound behind the wall and a flutter of feathers that made the homeowner’s cat lose its mind. We pulled two contractor bags of nesting material out of the flue. The firebox floor had a layer of guano that needed more than a broom. Once the nest was gone and the flue was swept, we recommended a basic cap with proper mesh so the next pigeon doesn’t get any bright ideas.

Flue Liner Inspection and Glazed Creosote Removal Near The Lakes

Professional chimney sweep cleaning a fireplace flue from the roof
Before: The flue liner (the clay or steel tube that vents combustion gases out of your home) was coated with glazed creosote that brush alone wouldn’t touch.

After: Chemical treatment broke down the glaze, then a thorough sweep cleared the residue. The liner’s surface is visible again.

Glazed creosote is the stubborn one. It’s hardened, fuel-rich, and standard chimney brushes skip right over it. Our camera inspection showed a coating thick enough that we flagged it as a legitimate fire risk. We applied a creosote conditioner, let it dwell, then swept the flue with a rotary system. The liner is now clean enough to inspect properly, and the draft improved noticeably.

Smoke Shelf Cleanout and Damper Adjustment in Centennial Hills

Professional technician performing a thorough residential chimney inspection and fireplace cleaning.
Before: Soot, creosote flakes, and a surprising amount of roofing grit piled up on the smoke shelf, pushing debris into the damper track.

After: Smoke shelf cleared, damper cleaned and adjusted, and the firebox swept flat.

The complaint was a damper that wouldn’t close all the way, which is a real problem in Las Vegas when you’re paying to cool a house. What we found was years of soot and broken creosote flakes piled up behind the damper plate. We cleaned the shelf, freed the hinge, and adjusted the handle. Now the damper closes tight, and the homeowner stopped air-conditioning the whole block through the chimney.

Prefab Fireplace Deep Sweep and Glass Restoration in Green Valley

Technician using a chimney inspection camera to examine flue interior
Before: The glass on this prefab unit was so clouded with soot and mineral haze that you couldn’t enjoy the fire even when it was burning.

After: Glass cleaned with a proper ceramic-glass cleaner, vents cleared, and the flue swept. The fire is visible again.

Prefab chimneys need their own approach, and they don’t tolerate being ignored. This one was full of soot from a venting issue that a previous “handyman special” had worsened. We swept the system, cleared the air vents, and cleaned the glass with a non-abrasive ceramic cleaner. The difference is immediate, the homeowner said watching the fire finally felt like watching a fire instead of a dirty window.

Masonry Fireplace Full Sweep After a Winter of Heavy Use in Spring Valley

Professional technician installing a stainless steel part during fireplace repair service
Before: A masonry fireplace used three to four nights a week all winter, with visible soot staining at the firebox opening and a flue that hadn’t been swept in over two years.
Technician performing professional fireplace damper repair and installation service
After: Firebox brushed clean, flue swept top to bottom, and the hearth swept. Ready for another burning season.

This homeowner opened the flue one morning and a plume of soot drifted into the living room when the furnace kicked on. They’d been burning more than usual during a cold snap, pine from a big-box store that never truly seasoned. We did a full sweep, cleaned the firebox, and talked through what to burn and what to avoid. They told us the draft felt stronger the first night after the sweep, which makes sense given what we took out of the flue.
