Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Gelco Chimney Cleaning in Las Vegas, NV | Ashby Chimney Las Vegas
We provide independent Gelco chimney cleaning and inspection across Las Vegas, and the short answer is this: most Gelco systems here don’t fail from creosote, they fail from dust, nesting, and monsoon-driven corrosion in flues that sit idle most of the year. That’s the thing that makes Gelco work in Las Vegas different from anywhere else we’ve seen. We know these factory-built systems inside and out, we stock the parts that actually fail here, and every job starts with a written price before we touch anything. Call (725) 220-6109 for a free estimate.
Why Las Vegas Residents Choose Us for Gelco Service
Ashby Chimney Las Vegas Chimney Sweep has been cleaning and inspecting chimneys since 2002, and a large share of that work has been on Gelco factory-built systems in the tract-home communities that grew out of Las Vegas’s post-1990 housing boom. Nathan Corliss, our owner, learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before moving his focus to the Las Vegas market. He’s spent well over a decade pulling dust-clogged Gelco caps off flues from Summerlin to Henderson, and he’s built the company on a habit he repeats on every job: say the price first, explain what you’re doing, and put the promise in writing.
We’re an independent Gelco service provider. That matters because we don’t have to push a manufacturer’s product line or mark up OEM parts to hit a quota. We recommend what the flue actually needs. When a Gelco termination cap is etched by wind-blown sand but still structurally sound, we tell you that. When it’s delaminating and needs replacement, we show you the photos and explain why. You get a written price before work starts and a written guarantee when it’s done. If a covered repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s part of the Kingswell Guarantee standard we operate under.
If you’ve already been burned by a technician who never showed or a price that doubled at the door, we’re the company that owns its word. Learn more about our Gelco sales & service approach and what it means to get a written price before any work begins.

Common Gelco Chimney Cleaning Problems We Solve in Las Vegas
- Dust-clogged perforated rain caps. Gelco’s perforated rain caps do their job keeping rain out, but Las Vegas dust storms push fine silt through the perforations and into the flue. After a few dormant seasons, airflow gets restricted enough to cause backdrafting, even on a fireplace that’s never been lit. We remove the cap, clean or replace it, and check the whole draft path.
- Monsoon moisture wicking into galvanized outer casings. The GC Series air-cooled chimney has a galvanized outer wall that’s tough, but monsoon season in Las Vegas introduces humidity spikes and standing water that accelerate delamination where the casing meets the flashing. We see this most often on two-story stucco homes built in the 1990s and early 2000s, where original flashing has shifted.
- Bird and rodent nesting in unused flues. Gelco flues that don’t get used for months become prime real estate for starlings, sparrows, and roof rats, especially in southwestern valley subdivisions with mature landscaping and fruit trees. A nest doesn’t just block draft; it’s a fire hazard and a carbon monoxide risk. We remove it and install a Gelco-compatible bird screen.
- Twist-lock connections separating from summer heat. Las Vegas regularly hits 110°F in summer. Gelco’s twist-lock chimney sections expand at different rates than the surrounding framing, and over enough seasons those connections can separate or misalign. We check every joint during a Level 1 or Level 2 inspection and reseat anything that’s shifted.
- Pre-sale inspection failures on unused fireplaces. This is the most common call we get in master-planned communities like Summerlin and Green Valley. The seller has never used the fireplace, the buyer’s inspector flags the chimney, and suddenly closing depends on a cleaning and inspection. We handle these quickly and give you documentation that satisfies the transaction.
Gelco Service in Las Vegas: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
There’s a reason Gelco cap assemblies fail faster in Las Vegas than they do in, say, Flagstaff or St. George. In master-planned communities like Summerlin and Henderson, HOAs now require our Chimney Inspection in Las Vegas for homes with fireplaces, regardless of whether anyone ever lights a fire. Gelco’s thin-gauge galvanized cap assemblies are often the first deficiency cited in those inspections, because wind-blown sand etches the galvanized coating within a few years of installation. A home in Summerlin that’s been through ten years of southwest wind will show cap erosion that still looks fine from the ground but is flagged by any inspector who knows what they’re looking at. That’s why we keep Gelco-compatible termination caps in stock locally, so a flagged cap doesn’t hold up a closing or an HOA compliance letter for weeks waiting on a parts order.
If you live anywhere in the Las Vegas service area, this is the reality we work with every day. It’s not creosote. It’s the desert doing what the desert does to thin-gauge metal and unused flues.
Gelco Models & Products We Service in Las Vegas
We work on the Gelco GC Series air-cooled chimney, the GL Series double-wall chimney, Gelco vented gas fireplace chimney systems, and Gelco direct-vent termination caps. For critical safety components like terminations and chimney sections, we prefer factory-spec Gelco parts. For simpler wear items like animal screens and flashing, we use quality aftermarket equivalents that meet UL 103 HT. The rule is simple: we don’t cut corners on anything that protects the flue from fire or carbon monoxide. We only recommend full section replacement when the original Gelco sections show advanced corrosion or structural compromise. Otherwise we repair and reseal, and we’ll tell you plainly which path makes sense for your system.

AfterGelco Service Pricing in Las Vegas
Most Gelco chimney cleanings in Las Vegas run between $150 and $300, depending on what’s actually in the flue. A dust-clogged cap that takes 45 minutes to clean costs less than a flue with a starling nest and corroded terminations. Cap replacement on a Gelco system usually lands between $200 and $400 depending on model and install height. A Level 1 inspection on a Gelco chimney runs between $100 and $200. We write the price before we start, and that’s the number on the invoice. Every estimate is free, and you’ll never get a surprise line item. For an exact quote on your system, call (725) 220-6109.

FAQs – Gelco Chimney Cleaning in Las Vegas
Dust, debris, and nesting animals don’t care whether you light a fire. In Las Vegas, wind-blown silt accumulates in Gelco’s perforated rain caps and restricts draft within a few seasons, which creates backdrafting and carbon monoxide risk. Monsoon humidity adds corrosion. An unused flue in Las Vegas is often dirtier than a used one in a colder city. Call (725) 220-6109 for a free estimate.
Usually, yes. The termination cap on a Gelco GC or GL system is a separate component, and most cap failures we see in Las Vegas are isolated to the cap itself, not the chimney sections below. We replace the cap with a factory-spec Gelco part or a Gelco-compatible equivalent, reseal the connection, and you’re done. If the top section below the cap is also compromised, we’ll show you photos before recommending anything more.
The monsoon humidity and sudden downpours expose weakness at the flashing transition and any place the galvanized outer casing has started to delaminate. Dry weather hides it. When the rain comes, water follows the path the corrosion already created. We inspect every Gelco flashing detail during service and reseal with materials rated for the Las Vegas heat before the problem gets structural.
Sometimes. If the pilot keeps dropping out only when the wind picks up or during a storm, that’s often a draft restriction at the Gelco cap or a misaligned termination. A clogged or corroded cap disrupts the venting air the direct-vent system relies on. We’ll check for cap blockage, nest intrusion, and connection separation before you spend money on gas valve work.
Most Las Vegas real estate transactions involving a Gelco factory-built system require at least a Level 2 inspection, especially if the home is in an HOA-managed community like Summerlin where annual inspection requirements are common and buyers’ inspectors are thorough. A Level 2 includes video documentation of the flue interior, which is what most title companies and HOAs want to see. If you’re selling, start with a Level 1 from us; we’ll tell you immediately if a Level 2 is required and why. Call (725) 220-6109 and we’ll walk you through what your specific transaction needs.
